Family game night is such a fun way to build wonderful memories. How about playing Halloween Tic-Tac-Toe? It can become an October family tradition!

I love Halloween! And I used to love to play Tic-Tac-Toe when I was a little girl. So I combined the two to create a Halloween Tic-Tac-Toe! It’s even magnetized, so it could be played in the car.

Here’s what you’ll need:

Spookville The Elements by Mari Koegelenberg

Toil and Trouble Paper Pack by Danielle Engebretson

8 x 8 black frame

metal sheet

1.5 inch wood discs

yellow cardstock

orange bag

magnet sheet

The elements and the papers in the two Digichick kits are darling! Kids (and adults, too) will enjoy playing Tic-Tac-Toe with these cute pumpkin and cat images. I think I did this the old fashioned way, but here goes!

I first printed the green and orange papers. Then, I sized the pumpkin and cat images to approximately 1.25 inches and printed them onto the colored papers. You’ll need at least 5 of each image. I used my cuttlebug and 1.5 inch circle die to cut out each image.

I glued them to the wood discs with liquid glue. Next, I sanded the edges of the paper circles.

This is optional, but I like the look! While they were drying, I printed the purple patterned paper and cut it to fit the frame. I also cut the yellow cardstock into four 1/2 inch x 7 inch strips and glued them in place. Then decorated with Halloween stamps.

When the discs were dry, I added a magnet to the back of each one.

Now for the hardest part, cutting the metal sheet to size. It’s not really THAT hard, but it’s not super easy either. I believe that some home stores will cut it for you and that may be the best. If not, they sell some HUGE shears that cut through the metal sheet.

After cutting it to size, I enclosed the edges in clear tape which helps you keep from cutting yourself when handling the metal sheet. Now it’s time to put the Tic-Tac-Toe together. Take the glass out of the frame. Put in the Tic-Tac-Toe board you made, then the metal sheet, maybe a piece of chipboard to make it nice and snug and then put the back back on. You’ve done it!

I bought an orange bag to use to store it. No closure is necessary because the pieces are magnetized and stay right on the board.

Now you’ve got a cute Halloween Tic-Tac-Toe for your family to enjoy!

Keep reading for a quick and easy sweet treat candy bar card!

Now that October is here, the leaves are changing color and people are decorating for Halloween. Which means one thing at our house – CANDY!! And you can’t have candy without chocolate!! So join me today as we create a candy bar card.

Supplies:

Happy Haunting by Danielle Engebretson

Cardstock

Scissors

Adhesive

Scoring Tools

Ink

Candy bar

To begin you need a sheet of cardstock measuring 6 1/8 x 5 inches. On the 5 inch side you will score at 2 3/8 inches and 2 5/8 inches.

Once scored, I inked the edges with black ink.

For the pocket you will need a 2 1/4 x 7 inch piece of cardstock. You will score this vertically at 1/2 and 3/4 inch on both the left and right sides. Then score horizontally at 1/2 and 3/4 inch as well.

Next you will cut away pieces like I did in the next few steps. I first cut out a square following my score lines on each side.

Then I cut diagonally two triangles from the side and bottom. Repeat for the other side.

Using your adhesive, you can attach the pocket. See how nicely the candy bar fits inside?

For the front of my card, I created a document 2 1/4 x 6 inches and added my own personal touch using Danielle’s Happy Haunting kit.

Once I printed it, I cut it out and attached it to the front. Now you have a sweet little treat to offer to someone.

Happy day, fellow Hybrid Chick fans!! Rebecca here today with another fun and fast craft for you, just in time for Halloween… cute pumpkin topper for suckers! These come together so fast and would be such a cute treat for that special kiddo in your life or for their school friends!

Supplies

Sweet Strawberry Template Set – Kelleigh Ratzlaff

Hocus Pocus Bundle – Cluster Queen Creations and geniaBeana Scraps

twine or ribbon

scissors

hole punch

tape runner

Green Paper Flowers by Bride’s (optional)

Dum Dum Pops

1. Clip your papers to the strawberry templates in your photo editing software. For the Dum Dum pops, I used the small strawberry template… and since they are now orange, I’m going to refer to them as pumpkins. *wink*

2. After cutting out the pumpkins and scoring the sides, punch holes in the dots marked on the tips of the template and also in the center where all the sides will meet… this is where the sucker stick will come through. I used the smaller punch size (3/16) on the crop a dile I.

3. Glue the tab to form the bottom of the pumpkin.

4. Insert the sucker into the pumpkin.

5. Cut a piece of twine or ribbon to about 6 inches and thread from inside out, through each hole.

6. Pull together and knot the top to create the stem.

7. Glue the flower to the pumpkin.

8. Glue the tag onto the stick.

And there you have it… pumpkin toppers for Dum Dum Pops!! Aren’t they cute? You can even get the kids involved and have them decorate the pops after the pumpkin is attached.

Glow sticks are used to make a fun, crafty alternative for sweet treats on Halloween.

Since our school district has banned all sweet treats at holiday parties, I have to come up with creative alternatives to give out as favors. Most kids love glow sticks but it is kind of boring just handing them out as is. So, I have dressed them up for Halloween as ghosts and mummies.

PROJECT SUPPLIES

O’HALLOWEEN DESIGNER KIT BY KAREN LEWIS

GLOW STICKS thin and thick

GAUZE

PRINTER, CARD STOCK (RED RIVER CARD STOCK WAS USED)

BLACK CARD STOCK, 1/4 AND 1/8 INCH PAPER PUNCHES

EDGE PUNCH

Start by separating the gauze from the backing.

Press the gauze with an iron to remove the folds. For the mummy, trim along the long edge to make 1/2 inch strips.

To make the mummy, wrap the strips around the glow stick (these were the thin ones used as bracelets) tying off and trimming the ends.

Continue wrapping two more strips. Punch out circles with the 1/8th inch punch and attach to the gauze for eyes.

To make the ghosts, use the thicker type of glow stick. Take the pressed gauze and fold over one corner to size up a square. Trim along the edge as shown.

Wrap the gauze around the top of the stick and tie one of the long strips around the square to create the ghost.

Use the larger 1/4 punch to make eyes.

Make some holders for your ghastly creatures using the O’HALLOWEEN DESIGNER KIT by Karen Lewis. This is a wonderful kit that has so many different elements and beautifully spooky papers. I just love it! I assembled the tag in photoshop and made the bat about 5 inches in length. These were printed out on the white card stock and trimmed out by hand.

Sandwich a layer of black card stock between the two bat pieces.

The wings were folded to fit around the glow sticks which were attached using two-sided tape.

The wings were folded around the sticks and adhered with a bit more tape.

For the ghost crew I made a simple box. A 4×5 inch square was cut out of some of the yummy paper from the O’HALLOWEEN DESIGNER KIT. It was scored at 1/2 inch along each of the 5″ side of the paper and from the 4″ edge at 2 and then again at 2 1/2 inches. Cut as shown.

An extra piece of black card stock, 1 inch wide, was made with a decorative edge punch (this one is from Stampin Up). It was adhered to the inside the longer side of the box. The edges were adhered as shown using two-sided tape.

The decorative tag was place on the front.

Tuck those ghoulies inside.

It’s not candy, but I think the kids will like it!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
Kim

Let's face it...when it comes to Halloween, kids love candy! Why not add some variety to how it's given? Keep reading to see how to create this sweet Halloween treat card.

Halloween is ALL about the candy so why not incorporate it into a card? Using a few simple supplies {that I am sure you have laying around the house!}, you can easily create these fun Halloween treat cards.

MATERIALS

Digital Kit – Spook Ville Designer Kit by Mary Koegelenberg

Thin cardboard box

clear applesauce or fruit cup container {make sure it has a small lip at the top}

black ink

double sided tape

clear glue {I used Quick Grip}

baker’s twine

black spray paint

Cut out 2 pieces of cardboard roughly 6.5 x 5 inches. For the front of the card {first piece of cardboard}, you will need to cut a hole slightly smaller than the size of your fruit container towards the bottom of the cardboard piece {leave at least 3/4 inch at the bottom of the cardboard}.

I found that most containers were about 2 inches in diameter so you will need your hole just a little smaller than this. You want the container to fit snugly in you hour hole so that the lip of the container will not fit through the hole.

For the back of the card (second piece of cardboard), you can vary the size of your hole depending on the size of the candy you are using. My hole is approximately 1.5 inches in diameter but you may want to go a little smaller or larger. Just ensure that this hole is CENTERED in the middle of the hole from the front of the card.

Once my holes were cut, I spray painted black paint over the written side of the cardboard to speed the process up a bit. You could also just use regular paint or cover your cardboard entirely with paper.

Print out the papers and embellishments that you would like to use to decorate your card. I chose to decorate only the front of my card but you could do the back as well. I inked the borders of all of my papers with black ink for some added definition.

Once you have decorated the front of the card, attach the fruit container by gluing the underside of the rim to the back of the cardboard.

Using double sided tape along both sides and the bottom of your card, attach the two cardboard pieces together. Make sure that you do not use tape along the top of these pieces

Now you need to create the orange card insert. This is what will cover the hole to keep the candy contained. My insert measures approximately 3.5 x 7 inches.

Remember that this needs to be narrow enough to slide up and down within your card. I added the gimme candy tab and some bakers twine to the top of mine. You can also write a greeting on this if you choose.

Slide the insert into the card and you are done! When you are ready for a little treat, just slide the insert up to open up the hole in the back of the card. You do not need to remove it all the way.

Now go enjoy some treats and don’t forget to share them with your friends!

Come check out how I turned a milk carton into a spooky house that's perfect as a Halloween decoration or gift!

Fall is in the air and that means Halloween is around the corner. I know we have a little more than a month until it’s time to don the costumes and go Trick or Treating for candy, but crafters know we have to get a jump start on all things holiday if we are to finish the projects on our list before the date arrives!

Today I’m going to show you how to create a spooky house using the Milk Carton Template Set by Kelleigh Ratzlaff. I decorated the house using an absolutely gorgeous brand-new Glamourween kit from ETC by Danyale…it’s so new that it’s not even in the shop yet! It’ll arrive on Thursday, September 29. Enjoy your sneak peek, this kit is just fabulous!

Supplies I used:

red line tape

scissors

embossing stylus

Fiskars Paper Trimmer

Licorice Premium Dye Inkpad by ColorBox and Stephanie Barnard

To start, I opened the small milk carton psd file in Photoshop. To create the window, I selected the rectangular marquee tool and drew a rectangle on the template. Then I pressed delete and this created an empty space where I could build my window scene.

I created a clipping mask just a bit larger than the window I created, and clipped one of the damask papers to it to create wallpaper. Then I added the frame, cat, curtains, and candelabra. The cross bars were taken from the birdcage element in the kit.

To achieve the shadowing on the window, I applied a drop shadow style to the box with a blend mode of Linear Burn, Opacity set at 88%, 45° angle, 0 px distance, 10 % spread, and 44 px size. I clipped the grey stripe paper to the box. Next, I added the iron fence to all sides of the box. Then I added the broom and zebra pumpkin just outside of the window.

The best way to create the roof is to make a clipping mask that is 4″ high x 2.5″ wide. These measurements allow for a 1/2″ overhang at the bottom. I goofed and ended up piecing mine together. Learn from my mistake!

I printed the canvas onto Epson Premium Matte Photo Paper. Next, I cut out the milk carton using both my Fiskars paper trimmer and my scissors.

I used the embossing stylus to score along the fold marks. I added red line tape to the edge of the template and then adhered the edges together to join the sides of the box together.

I folded the bottom of the box together by following the instructions that are included in the Milk Carton Template Set.

Because I wanted a flat roof line, I added more red line tape to the inside edges of the milk carton. This action seals the box for good, but you can still fill it with treats by unfolding the bottom of the box.

I folded the edges together and then folded them down toward the back of the box. I added more red line tape to the outer edge to keep it down.

Now it looks less like a milk carton and more like a little house, which is exactly the look I’m trying to achieve.

If I had used one rectangular roof piece that was 4″ x 2.5″, I would have scored the roof in the middle and 1/2″ in from each short end but instead I had to attach the two roof pieces to the top of the milk carton. I again used red line tape. Finally, I used a sponge to apply black ink to the edges of my spooky house.

I really like how it turned out. I can see quite a bit of potential in using this milk carton template for other houses – a gingerbread house for Christmas, a flower shoppe for spring, and a school house in September!

If you use this template to make a house of your own, be sure to leave a link to your gallery so I can check it out!

Hi this is Bonnie popping in with my first design team project! Please join me as I show you how I made a Pretty Lil' Pumpkin! ;)

Hi, it’s Bonnie from p i n k b o n b o n s, popping in with my first Design Team post for the DIGICHICK and I’m so super excited to be here!!

I love everything at the Digichick so it was hard picking something to make with so much to choose from!

I decided on this cute little pumpkin Box by Kelleigh Ratzlaff. I love little boxes and this is awesome!! I did a little matching card/tag! Enjoy!

Supplies needed:

Pumpkin Box Template

Kelleigh Ratzlaff – Doodle Labels and frames

S Jones – Pretty Practical Papers

Karen Lewis – Subway Style2 Wordart

Twine

Flowers to decorate

1. First I cut out the pumpkin box lid, bottom and the label using my cutting machine and the svg files, these files can all be cut by hand if you do not have a cutting machine.

2. I then started to put the box lid together with double sided sticky tape.

3. It should look like this when put together. (I then added some twine through the little slit in the top and tied the twine in a knot underneath).

4. I then just repeated steps 1 & 3 to put together the bottom of the box and you then have your pumpkin box ready to decorate! I added some S Jones – Pretty Practical Papers to the top of the lid, cut out by hand.

5. I then punched a hole through some paper blossoms and threaded onto my twine for decoration.

6. Now for the card tag, I just rounded the corners of the printed subway art and adhered it to the cut out label with foam tape for a bit of dimension. To finish the tag, I punched a hole and added some twine!

Hugs, Bonnie

Join me as I show you how to create your very own chenille animal - perfect for your next Halloween project!

Hi! This is my first post for the Hybrid Chick and I’m so excited to be here! There are so many wonderful things to choose from in the store and I honestly wanted to create with everything I saw! I finally narrowed it down and created a fun Halloween decoration that’s pretty and easy, too!

Supplies:

Flower Pinwheel Cutting File

by Stacy Molter

Snapshots Paper Pack

by Karen Lewis

Pail

Flowers

Styrofoam

Ribbon

Lollipop Sticks

Black Chenille Stems

Black Embroidery Floss and Needle

Green Paper and Black Pen

Orange and Black Felt

I really love the black and white papers which made lovely pinwheels in my arrangement. You can see a tutorial here (by Christy) on how to make them. I glued the pinwheels to lollipop sticks and added pumpkins to the centers. Plop some styrofoam in the pail and start adding the pretties!

I’m going to show you how to make the little cutie hiding right in the center between two flowers.

Cut a black chenille stem in half and then fold the half in half and twist it. Curve into a u. Make two – these will be legs.

Wrap another stem about six times around a pencil. Cut off the excess and gently remove coils from pencil.

With another chenille stem fold about two inches from the end and twist. This will be the tail. Insert the tail into the body and make a loop for the head.

Take the end of the loop and wrap it around the loop to make a head.

Insert the legs into the body.

Thread embroidery floss and run it through the face. Cut each side for whiskers. Here’s a closeup of the whiskers:

Cut tiny triangles for ears and glue on top of head. Cut tiny piece of orange felt (I rolled it between my fingers) and glue on for nose. I hole punched two green eyes and then trimmed them to be even smaller and used a black pen to make the pupils of the eyes. Glue them on.

Have fun with this! It’s easier than it looks. However, I’ve seen chenille animals on kid websites and I’m not sure it would be easy enough for a little child!

Happy early Halloween!
