Halloween is over and it's time to think about Thanksgiving. Join me today as I show you how to create a place card perfect for the Thanksgiving table that can also hold a small treat!

Hello everyone! Cathy from Paper Garden Projects guest posting again.

I’d like to share with you a treat box printable that can be used as a place card for a dinner. Since Halloween is now over, it’s time to start thinking about Thanksgiving!

The box was made with the Autumn Abundance Digital craft kit.

I going to show you how to take this festive treat box place card and assemble it in just a few steps. Add a small treat to the box, maybe a small pumpkin to the top or write someone’s name on the top round part, and your place card is ready to go!

The printable is available as a free printable PDF. You can download the PDF here.

Simply print the PDF and assemble the box (with a few little treats inside for your guests!).

You will need to print it on paper with a little more body than plain text paper so the box will hold its shape. I used 48lb weight brochure paper here. You can also use presentation paper or card stock. The printed colors are generally more muted on card stock.

Here is the box and tag cut out. You need to cut the black slits as well. To make the folding easier, I scored around the base of the box with a score tool – but it is not necessary.

Then fold the two rounded sides and slip the tab into the slit you cut.

Add a few small treats inside the box – I like chocolate kisses or chocolate mints (well – actually anything chocolate that will fit….). Then, fold up the other 2 sides and slide the tab cuts together.

Write your guest’s name on the tag and adhere it to one of the box tabs. That way the box can be opened and closed without having to tear the name tag off.

And that’s it – one complete table favor box….. Hope you enjoyed my guest post (maybe they’ll invite me back!).

The Cupcake Shaped Box Template by Kelleigh Ratzlaff Designs has been "refrosted", so we are celebrating with a template challenge! Enter your hybrid creation for a chance to win a $20 gift certificate to Kelleigh's store!

It’s time for a challenge here at The Hybrid Chick, don’t ya think?

The Hybrid Chick is excited to announce that the ever-popular Cupcake Shaped Box Template by Kelleigh Ratzlaff Designs has been “refrosted” (reworked just a bit!) to make the top a bit fluffier, just as a yummy homemade cupcake should be!

Other updates include the addition of cutting files for your digital die cut machine (in AI, DXF, SVG, PNG and JPG formats) and cleaner, less noticeable scoring lines for more traditional papercrafters.

The original template was fabulous, but the updated version is ten times better!

Do you see the difference?

To celebrate the popularity of this refrosted template, we would like to issue our readers a challenge!

Create your own cupcake shaped box using the Cupcake Shaped Box Template, and post your creation on your blog, gallery of choice or in our open hybrid gallery at The Digichick.

Who doesn’t love polka dots!!! Today we’re making the most adorable birthday party set that includes a couple of sweet cupcake favor boxes, a pretty little party hat and a bright and cheery birthday card! {So Sweet}!!!

Supplies from The Digichick Shop:

Sunkissed Digital Pack by Sugarplum Paperie

Cupcake Shaped Box Template Set and Cutting Files by Kelleigh Ratzlaff

Party Hats Template by Kelleigh Ratzlaff

Other supplies: buttons, baker’s twine, stickers, brads, toothpicks, glitter, hot glue, trinket pins, birthday sentiments, pom-pom trim, gingham trim, polka dot ribbon, cardstock, paper blooms.

Let’s get started! First select some gorgeous print patterns from the Sunkissed Set and print them out on white cardstock.

Print out the cupcake box template and cut it out with two separate patterned papers … here I used the blue polka dotted paper and hot pink paper. I cut along the middle of each template and then reattached the papers with alternating patterns = two favor boxes!!

Attach gingham and pom-pom trim along the seam of the cupcake favor box. Print out a banner tag from the Sunkissed Digital Elements Pack, stamp sentiment on it, fold in half and glue onto a toothpick. Adhere toothpick into a pretty paper bloom, add glitter … viola! Too cute

Next for our card … select and print out several digital elements from the Sunkissed Paper Pack and print onto white cardstock. Cut out all emements.

Gather your supplies for the card to include sentiment stamps, ink, cardstock and such.

Layer all elements of your choice onto a white cardstock base … here I layered some pretty white and yellow daisy paper with blue background. Next, I added a shabby white frame. Inside the frame, I layered a pretty piece of yellow damask paper and sewed around the edges with a machine zig-zag stitch. Then, I layered the popsicle with some dimensionals and tied a cute blue and white baker’s twine bow around the stick.

I printed and cut out three blue daisies, scrumpled them for dimension, adhered them to the card and added a pretty yellow button to the middle. Lastly, I stamped the ‘happy birthday’ sentiment onto a tag and added it to the card!

Okay, so now let’s move onto the party hat – super cute! Again print a patterned paper of your choice, print the party hat template, cut and score. Gather up whatever supplies you want to add to your party hat.

For mine, I added some more of the yellow gingham trim along with some blue pom-pom trim around the bottom. The tag is one I had from my stash which the colors coordinated perfectly, so I added a daisy sticker and some polka dotted organza ribbon and ‘tied’ the tag onto the hat with baker’s twine and glue.

I printed out four more pretty paper blooms at different sizes, scrumpled them to create dimension, added a button and brad in the middle and adhered to the hat.

Lastly, a couple of pretty trinket pins and some hot pink trim at the top to look like a festive pom-pom complete this adorable party hat!

So, there you have it! My version of a sweet party set full of treats and happiness!

Here is a special keepsake to hold trinkets and souvenirs from a favorite vacation. As well as a photo to preserve a special memory in your heart.

Here is a quick and easy keepsake box that you will treasure for a long time! And people will think you took hours to make it! But it only takes about 40 minutes! Let’s get started!

Here’s what you will need to make this Memory Box and Frame.

Hexagon Box Template by Kelleigh Ratzlaff

Sugar Sands Beach Kit by Etc. by Danyale

Piece of sturdy cardboard

Twine or Thin Roping

Scor-Pal or Scoring Tool

Hot Glue Gun

Craft Knife

First, print out your favorite patterned paper, frame and embellishments onto white cardstock. On the back of the patterned paper, print out the box template. You can resize the box to whatever size you like in most software programs. (I made my box a little bigger than the larger size box.)

Now, cut out the box template and score and fold where indicated. Assemble box and set aside.

Remove the center of the frame with a craft knife. Then cut a piece of cardboard the same width and length as the frame.

Adhere the cardboard to the back of the frame with glue dots or hot glue. Place glue only on the sides and bottom of the frame. Leave top open so photo can be inserted.

Cut another small piece of cardboard. Fold at one end and adhere to back of frame so it can stand. You can also paint the cardboard white or another color to make it look more finished.

Now you can start to decorate the box as you desire. I hot glued some twine along the edges and the top of the box. I then added my frame and photo and hot glued my embellishments around it. I didn’t adhere my frame to the top. This way it is removable and makes it easier to open the box.

The photo is of my son. It was one of the first times I took him to the lake near our home. I collected some sand that day in a small bottle as well as seashells. They are all stored in the box along with more photos of the day.

A quick and easy Father's Day giftbox to show them how much you love them!

Happy Friday, everyone! Can you believe it is June already… I sure can’t. Today I’m here with another quick and easy gift – this just in time for Father’s Day – that your kids can help you create.

For me, this project is an appropriate gift from son to Daddy… my son has a mild obsession with measuring things around the house…

Supplies

Around the World – The DigiChick Collaboration – featured at The DailyDigi for the Month of June 2011 before coming home to TDC in July 2011

Box #1 Templates and Cutting Files by Stacy Molter

Scissors

adhesive

crayons for the kiddos

1. In my photo editing software, I decorated the box template and the ruler. Then I printed on double sided matte photo paper.

2. Cut out the pieces and have your child personalize the box… Rupert, number one favorite plush lamb, is supervising to make sure J only stays in the box. ha ha

3. Fold along the crease lines… I couldn’t find my bone file… I suspect Rupert has it… so I used a craft stick to sharpen the creases.

4. Fold up the box leaving the bottom section open. Because of the writing on my ruler, I need it to “pull out” on the left. Adhere the inside box tab down.

5. Adhere the end of the ruler to the inside of the box.

6. Push the rest of the ruler into the box, gently. The beginning of the ruler edge is now at the same corner the end of the ruler is taped to the box.

7. Close up the bottom of the box… as a note, do not glue the bottom flap to the box…. my son pushed the ruler all the way back in and it was a trick to get it back out since I taped the flap to the box… oops.

8. Now you will be able to slide the ruler in and out… the paper will curl a bit, I wonder if laminating the ruler would help it lay a bit more flat because it will be thicker. I guess Rupert needed to be in this photo because he wasn’t in the photo with J and Daddy on the box, according to J. :)

And there it is… a cute gift for the man in your child’s life… or even for you to give to the people that mean the most to you, too! We are off to make more of these for all the grandpa’s and uncles! Also another nifty idea is you could add a gift card to the box, too… how cool would that be?!?

{{hugs}}

On my cake, the smallest flat topped box uses the short large boxbase file. The other two boxes are increased in size to 120% and 140%. If you’re using a digital die cutter to cut the boxes you’ll need one that can take 12″ x 12″ paper for the largest box.

You’ll need to emboss the sides of the boxes before assembly and if your using a pearl pen to decorate, it’s a good idea to do that at this stage as well. Remember to take care to have your embossing folder the same way when embossing so you don’t end up with a debossed side by mistake.

Once your boxes are assembled, print your papers and cut the flowers. I’ve used flower no 2.

Each bloom is made up of three flowers, two the same size and one slightly smaller. Again I’ve resized the flowers on the larger boxes by 120% and 140%. Once you have shaped to flowers to your liking use the brad to assemble and then adhere them to the box lids. I used a hot glue gun to do this, but you can use your favourite adhesive.

For the top of the cake, I used the large domed lid cut at 80%. I decorated it with strips of paper and some more blooms. You can see the cake I used as my inspiration here.

Here's a sweet treat holder and matching card set to get you ready for the Easter holiday! It's the perfect pair for anyone on your holiday list!

This fun set is the perfect gift for anyone on your Easter Bunny list!

You will need the following supplies to make this sweet set:

Fresh Paper Pack by Karen Lewis

Easter Egg Basket Template Set by Kelleigh Ratzlaff

Scor-pal or ruler and scoring tool

Flower and leaf dies or punches

Tag dies or punches

Decorative edge punch

Embellishments: buttons, pearls, ribbon, gem flourish

Light brown ink

Scor-tape or other adhesive and pop-dots

Plain cardstock for card base and mat

Sentiment stamp(s) and ink of choice

Are you ready to have some fun?…let’s get started.

First, you will need to print out your papers. Choose one of the papers you would like to use for the egg basket base and print the template on the back side. (I printed it on the front for the purposes of this tutorial to give you an idea of what it would look like on the finished side).

Cut out your template, then score the dotted lines and fold the solid lines as described in the directions. I love the look of distressed or inked edges…and it can hide a multitude of sins ,too, while giving it a shabby, vintage look! I inked my edges before assembly…it’s so much easier that way!

Assemble egg basket as per the directions. Cut a strip of paper 1 1/2″ wide and punch both sides with your edge punch.

Add ribbon and attach to your basket.

Cut out flowers and leaves with dies or punches. Ink edges of flowers and leaves.

Decorate front of basket with flowers and leaves.

Now comes the fun part…decorate with buttons, pearls, tag and ribbon…whatever you like! Then, fill with something sweet. I tucked some seam binding in my basket since I don’t have any eggs ready as of yet!

Now it’s time to gather your supplies for your card. Trace the egg shape onto a piece of your printed paper and leave a small tab at the bottom to be folded up underneath. Cut out the egg shape and score along the bottom of the egg.

Gently curve the egg shape and apply Scor-tape or adhesive on the bottom half only of the side of the egg and along the tab at the bottom of the egg shape.

Cut your mat and base paper for the front of your card and ink all the edges. Attach the egg shape to the front of the card, leaving it “open” at the top and curving it slightly.

Decorate front of card as you did the basket with any embellishments to you like. I tucked a bit more seam binding into the top of my egg and a sweet little treat is hiding underneath. You could use Easter basket grass or shredded paper too!

There you go! A sweet little Easter Egg Basket ready for the perfectly dyed or chocolate egg and a matching card!

It was so much fun to make these…they come together so fast and it was super easy! I plan on making a little Easter Egg Basket as a placecard for each person at my family’s Easter gathering! It would also make a great teacher gift or a sweet treat for a co-worker!

This year think outside the basket, Easter basket that is! Join me as I show you how to put together a quick and easy carrot box to hold your Easter treats.

Put away those plastic Easter eggs and make room for some carrot boxes! Not only do these boxes hold more candy than the average egg, but they make the perfect addition to any basket or place setting.

Here’s what you’ll need to get started:

Carrot Box Template Set by Kelleigh Ratzlaff

1 piece of green card stock

1 piece of orange card stock

Dark orange or brown marker

Scor-Pal

Bone Folder

Glue Glider Pro or Double Sided Tape

Stamped Image and Sentiment (I used Gina K. Designs Square Pegs)

Here is a photo of the finished project I will be sharing with you today.

Ready to get started? Great, here we go! We’ll start off with the carrot top.

Step 1: Cut the piece of green card stock 3″ wide by 6″ high. On the 6″ side score at 1″, turn your paper to the 3″ side and score every 1/4″ stopping at the 1″ mark you made on the 6″ side.

Step 2: Cut along the scored lines.

Step 3: Using your bone folder curl each strip by holding the bone folder under each strip and slide it all the way through – similar to how you would curl ribbon with a scissor. Be careful not to pull too hard or you’ll rip the strip.

Step 4: Add adhesive to the 1″ strip at the bottom of the curls.

Step 5: Roll strip onto itself.

Step 6: Once it’s all rolled up, add a bit more adhesive and re-curl any strips you’d like. Set it aside to work on the bottom of the carrot.

Step 7: On your piece of orange card stock print out your template – you can actually fit two on one piece of card stock. You can either print the lines dark as I’m showing you here or lighten up the lines…totally up to you. You won’t see the lines once it’s all put together, so go with whatever you’re comfortable with. Cut the template and score on all score lines.

Step 8: Add adhesive to the tab.

Step 9: Put template together, add candy, and tuck tabs in so you’ll end up with something that looks like this.

Step 10: Using a marker, add some dashes to give the carrot a more realistic look.

Step 11: Tuck carrot top inside carrot bottom.

With that you are done! To make it into a gift, I added a stamped imaged and sentiment to a basket, inserted the carrots, added some decorative eggs, and here’s what it looks like. It’s ready to be gifted!

Hope you have fun making these!

Today I'm going to show you how to make a sweet mini Note Card Set with a coordinating extra large envie to hold all those pretty little embellished card treasures!

I’m so glad you popped in today to peek at this {sweet} project! How many times have you created the sweetest card, piled high with lots of love and embellishments, only to find out that it’s so lovingly embellished that it won’t fit into a standard envelope? Happens to me all the time as I {adore} embellishments on cards! Today I’ll show you how to make a ‘fat envie’ that will hold all your 3-dimensional cards … and I’ve also created a little mini set of note cards to coordinate with the envelope too!

Here are the supplies you’ll need to make a set of your very own:

The Digichick Shop:

Fat Envies Template and Cutting Files by Kelleigh Ratzlaff

Damask Paper Pack by TK Whimsy

Girl’s Best Friend Paper Pack by Quirky Terp

Other supplies:

Paper doilies, buttons, baker’s twine, satin ribbon, Maya Road trinket pin, twill (kraft) paint, sentiment stamps, black ink, Webster’s Pages sparkler, dies to make flower, glue, scissors, sewing machine (optional).

Print out a patterned paper of choice from the Girl’s Best Friend Paper Pack. Cut the Fat Envie template by either using a personal cutting machine, such as Cricut, with the SVG file or by hand with the PDF file. Distress the edges of the patterned paper with twill ink to create a time-worn look. Score and assemble your fat envie.

Die cut several different shapes and sizes of blossoms using dies and cutting machine of your choice. Here I used a combination of Tim Holtz’s Tattered Florals and Stampin’ Up’s! Blossom Party. Crumple all blossoms after cutting to create dimension. Beginning with the largest blooms, glue all pieces together, staggering the petals with each layer and working your way up to the smallest blossom. Add a sparkler in the center of the bloom.

Ruffle and fluff the edges of the blossom until you achieve the desired look!

Glue half of a paper doilie at the top of the fat envie. Adhere trinket pin and finished blossom. Tie a length of black satin ribbon around the base of the fat envie to hold the box closed.

Print off some more patterned papers from the Girl’s Best Friend Paper Pack and cut four pieces 2″ x 3 1/2″. Ink edges with twill paint to distress.

Print some patterned papers from TK Whimsy’s Damask Paper Pack. Cut four pieces 3 1/2″ x 7″; ink edges with twill paint. Stamp sentiments in the upper right corner of each note card using black ink. Adhere Girl’s Best Friend patterned papers to the bottom of each note card and layer half of a paper doilie on top of this patterned paper.

Adhere a strip of black stain ribbon using a machine zig-zag stitch. Tie baker’s twine around a button and adhere to the middle of all note cards.

You’ve created a {sweet} set of note cards suitable for sending to friends or giving the entire set to someone as a handmade from the heart gift!

Thank so much for allowing me to share this project with you today. I’d love to see pics of the cards and envies you create inspired by my gift set!

I love boxes. This little trinket box is easy to make, it has so many uses and would make a perfect gift! The vellum flower is really pretty and is a great embellishment for cards and presents!

You can’t have too many boxes, right? This little trinket box would also make a pretty jewelry box. It’s constructed from foam board so it’s super strong. You can adjust the size quite easily to suit your needs. The box is topped with an easy to make but impressive vellum flower. There’s also a little surprise inside!!

For a simple classic look I went with a black and cream color scheme with touches of lemon. I used papers and elements from the Snaps and Scraps kit from Viva Artistry.

You’ll also need some foam board, pins, fabric tape, vellum, ribbon, brad, flower template or die, resin embellishment and your basic tool kit (glue, double sided tape, scissors, craft knife, ruler, etc)

Mark out your foam board to the desired size. You’ll need to make two boxes. The base box will be deeper than the box for the lid. You’ll need four sides for each box. Cut them all out the same length and trim any excess when constructing the box.

Assemble your boxes with a good quality craft glue. I add the sides on top of the base.

Add some ordinary sewing pins to the joints (base and sides) to add extra strength to the box.

Cover the base and lid on the outside with your patterned paper. Cover the inside with contrasting paper.

To make the hinge at the back, add a strip of fabric tape or masking tape across the joint and cover with patterned paper.

The box should open smoothly and the edges should be flush when closed.

I cut out one of the butterfly elements from the Snaps and Scraps kit (I printed it on some lightweight card) and glued to the inside of the lid.

To make the flower, you’ll need 3 each of 3 different sized flower shapes cut out from vellum. Here I just used a die cut (Tattered Florals) but any five or six petal flower shape would do.

Stack the flowers as shown and pierce the centre all the way through. Add a brad to the middle.

Adjust the layers so the petals alternate on each layer. Starting in the centre, scrunch the petals upwards – the more scrunching the better as it adds lovely textured lines to the vellum.

Do this with all the layers.

Once you’ve scrunched all the layers, gently open up the flower and adjust the petals.

To decorate the top of the trinket box, I made three bows and layered them under the flower.

I also added a little resin embellishment to the lid at the front.
