The root of my hybrid love definitely revolves around preserving memories (as much as I love the gift items and home décor things – adding a 12 x 12 page to my album makes me happy)! So for many of that might not have a wide format printer you might feel stuck when it comes to creating 12 x 12 pages. This page was done using a regular 8.5 x 11 sheet of photo paper. I opened a new document in Photoshop measuring 8 x 10.5.

Supplies for this page:

• Digital Kits: Date stamp from K Studio, Strawberry Café [Revised]
  by Sugarplum Paperie & Sweet & Simple Templates Vol. 2 also by Sugarplum Paperie.
• Other Supplies: Staples brand photo paper, Pop dots, Cutterbee Scissors, Bazzill Cardstock, Stampin’ Up stamps, Heidi Swapp word stamps & ribbon, Rangers Ink, Doodlebug glitter, Basic Gray ribbon & thread from my sewing machine.

I am not a sketcher so I don’t typically know exactly what my finished page is going to look like so for this one I decided I wanted the digital paper to stretch the full span of my finished page. To add interest to the paper I used one of the templates from the Sweet & Simple Templates Vol. 2 by Sugarplum Paperie (this is how I added the scallops). I also knew that I wanted to use the fun alphabet in the Strawberry Café [Revised] kit from Sugarplum so I added the title to the paper before printing.

After I figured out which pictures I was going to use for the page I went ahead and added a tag with the dates. I dropped this onto the center of the paper with the plans to cut it out once it was printed.

Once I had things how wanted them I printed it out on a sheet of photo paper (I did add other elements on the remaining portion of the page so ultimately I was able to create 2 full 12 x 12 pages using just one sheet of photo paper).

With the page printed out I trimmed down the 11 x 4.5 stripe, cut out the frame and trimmed out the date tag from the middle portion, tearing apart the remaining portion of the pattered paper. I attached the remaining portion of the patterned paper stripe to a cardstock base.

Then I arranged the pictures in a cluster, making sure to cover up the hole in the paper. I sewed around the pictures to add some texture to the page. Then I pulled out some stamps to add the rest of the title as well as a few other spots on the page.

With the small framed trimmed out I wanted to add some glitter to it as well as the four brads in the corners.

After adding the glitter to the frame I thought it needed a bit more so I tied a twist of ribbon to it.

After placing the tag with pop dots below it, to add height, I felt that the page needed one more spot with ribbon. I added a knotted bit near the title to help create a visual triangle with ribbons.

To finish off the page I used my ink pad to add some ink smudges around the edge of the page.

After a trip to Disney this past December I was excited to show off our pictures. I hadn’t yet gotten my 1,400 pictures organized into the ‘official’ scrapbook, so when The Hybrid Kid (a/k/a Melissa Wilson) came out with the super cool iMagic Brag book I knew it would be a quick fix for me! Not only would I have a digital scrapbook at my fingertips (on my iPhone) but I could also have a printed version to hang on a tote bag ready to show to anyone slightly interested in our trip to the happiest place on Earth!

Here’s what I used to make my mini album:

Ingredients:

• Digital kits: It’s Magic Kit from Mikkel Paige & iMagic Brag book from Melissa Wilson
• Ribbon from my stash
• Badge Holders from Staples
• Photos printed at walmart (2 fit on a 4×6 print)

I decided which pictures would fit best with the templates and then pulled them into the templates. I added a few more magic pieces to them using the It’s Magic Kit from Mikkel Paige.

Then about halfway through creating them for my iPhone, I realized that they would make a really cute mini scrapbook. I decided that using badge holders would be the easiest thing for this project. So I measured the ones that I had in my stash. I had to slightly resize the images to fit the holders (not a big deal, as long as you do it prior to finishing them!).

After I had the mini pages done I had them printed, trimmed them down to size, slipped them into the holders and added some fun ribbon to the top.

After I had the first one done I realized that all of the grandparents would enjoy having a record of our trip too. Now not only do I have a portable digital scrapbook on my iPhone but I also have a physical version to show off and so do the many grandparents!
