It’s Christmas in July! Want a fun and unique gift wrap for those upcoming Holiday Gifts? I’ve got a cute idea for making a gift box that incorporates your favorite Holiday photo too!

I love to make gift boxes and one of my favorite ways to package a gift is to create a photo gift box.Since we are celebrating Christmas in July here at The Hybrid Chick, I’ve got a holiday gift box that will make the gift inside even sweeter.

Supplies:

Digital Kit: Fabulously Festive Papers by Sarah

Paper Mache Box

Photo (sized to fit the lid of the box)

File or Sandpaper

Adhesive (I‘ve used Xyron)

Miscellaneous Embellishments (I’ve used ribbon, adhesive jewels, chipboard and rub-ons)

Begin by measuring the sides of the lid and the sides of the bottom of the box to determine the amount of paper you will need to print to cover the box. Print digital papers for box lid and box bottom.Next measure the top of the box and print your photo to fit it.

Cover the bottom of the box.I printed two long strips of paper to wrap around the sides. When adhering paper to the sides, line up the top edge of the paper to the top edge of the box , you can then use a file or sandpaper to go around the edges to remove excess paper from the bottom.

Before covering the sides of the lid, first add the photo to the top of the lid.Use a file or sandpaper to remove any excess paper from the sides as the photo will need to fit right to the edge.

After the photo is in place, cover the sides of the lid making sure to line up the top edges nicely against the photo.Again, remove any excess paper from the bottom of the lid with a file or sandpaper.

Now you have the box and lid completed!

To add a finishing touch to my gift wrap, I added a bow and a chipboard Christmas tree embellishment cut from chipboard (just a triangle covered with paper from the digital kit).I added a rub-on sentiment to the tree and a red jewel to the top and attached it to the center of the bow.

Merry Christmas in July!

It’s all about babies here at The Hybrid Chick and I’ve got a project that will make a great personal gift for baby. Grab your favorite baby kit from The Digichick, a blank picture frame and let’s get to work!

Here’s an easy project picture frame project that can be personalized with your favorite kit. All you will need is:

A blank picture frame

A digital kit

Adhesive

Miscellaneous embellishments if you would like to add some.

For my project I used Mari’s Luvbug kit and an unfinished wooden frame found at my local craft store.

To begin, I measured the sides of the frame to see how much paper I would need to cover them. I then digitally cut and pasted strips of paper from the kit onto a page to be printed. I also selected the digital elements that I wanted to use, copied and pasted onto another page to print.

Once printed, I cut out the strips of paper. I cut the top and bottom strips diagonal on the sides to make the edges meet. I then used Xyron adhesive to adhere the strips to the sides of the frame and used sandpaper to remove the excess paper from the sides. I also added a little chalk ink to the edges for a distressed look.

Next I cut out the elements that I had printed from the kit and glued them to the frame. In addition to the digital elements, I decided to add a bit of ribbon, chipboard and a button as shown.

All done! But wait… I’m giving this project away! Just leave a comment to this post for your chance to win it. If you want to double your chances of winning then make your own blog, Twitter or Facebook post telling everyone about the Baby Shower we’re having here at The Hybrid Chick and post a link!

Winners will be announced on June 28th. Keep checking daily for more prizes!!!

Want a quick, easy and personalized gift idea? I’ve got some cute ideas to show you how to make a simple set of Personalized Note Cards!

Have you ever been in the situation of needing a quick gift? I’ve got a solution: Personalized stationery makes a GREAT gift!

Whether it’s a gift for a friend, teacher, relative or even a gift for yourself – this is a gift you can easily make with little or no hybrid experience.

To begin, I created a 4.25 x 5.5” page in my photo editing program. Choose the papers you would like to use and fill the page with pattern paper.

For my note cards I used Amy Sumrall’s Little Bunny Foo Foo Kit. I used the red and white polka dot paper for one set of note cards and the green flowered paper for another set.

On the polka dot note cards, I then added a box inside the page (leaving about a ½” of the pattern paper showing on the edges) and set the transparency of the box to 75%. This will create writing space for the note card. To personalize, I added the name centered at the top of the transparent box.

For the flower note cards, instead of using a transparent box I used the white pattern paper from the Little Bunny Foo Foo kit as the center of the cards. I also added some digital stitches by Pri Rocha to embellish them further. Like the polka dot set, I added the name centered at the top of the white pattern paper.

To print the note cards, you can fit four to an 8.5 x 11” page if you have borderless printing, otherwise you can fit two per page. Now just print and cut them out (I said this was easy!).

I decided to include a set of 6 note cards and envelopes for each set and wanted to package them in a fun way. I used a cello bag for the polka dot note cards and made a matching topper for the bag. I also decided to use the flower embellishment from Amy’s kit to add to the front of these cards. I printed the topper and seven flower embellishments on one page. I used a 1 ¾” circle punch to punch out the centers of the flowers and added one to each note card plus one to go on the bag topper. I packaged the cards and envelopes, adhered the topper to the bag and added some ribbon and a button to the topper.

For the flower note cards I simply wrapped a yellow gingham ribbon around the cards and envelopes and tied it in a bow. I then added a flower and button to the center of the bow.
