With the aid of Mari Koegelenberg  Whats Cooking? The Collection kit, a fun new stamp from My Favorite Things called WTG Goes Green, and some non~digi items, I did just that.

Here’s what my project looks like finished.

Here’s what you’ll need:

• Whats Cooking? The Collection by Mari Koegelenberg
• Self~Adhesive Vinyl Cover (I used Kittrich Clear Magic Cover Self~Adhesive Vinyl Deocrative Coverings)
• Dry Erase Board
• Eraser Pen/Eraser
• Ribbon
• Grocery or Kitchen themed Stamps (I used My Favorite Things WTG Goes Green)
• Patterned Paper or Color Card Stock
• Staz~On Ink
• Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
• Copic Markers
• All Purpose Glue
• Magnet Tape
• Brayer

Step 1: Make sure your Dry Erase Board is Clean and set it aside to work on your shopping list and menu planner sheet. From the Whats Cooking? The Collection  you’ll need the following:

• Shopping List 001
• Menu Planner 001
• Divider 001
• Flower 007
• Brad 001

Step 2: Arrange as many Shopping List images as possible on your canvas so that you’re able to utilize as much as the paper as possible. Here’s what it looked like on my screen.

Print it and cut it out…set aside to work on the planner sheets.

Step 3: The bottom layer of the planner is the divider, followed by the menu planner image and on the side, I added the flower and brad (I showed you in post HERE, how I put the brad and flowers together). Here’s what the planners look like arranged and ready to be printed out.

Print it and cut it out, set it aside. Grab a couple of pieces of vinyl cover big enough to cover the shopping list and menu planner. Here’s what it looks like before applying it to the Shopping List.

Step 4: Peel off one edge of the vinyl cover and adhered it to the shopping list just above the edge (you will cut this later) and using your Brayer to assure complete adherence.

Cut off any extra vinyl and grab some magnets ~ I found some that are in a tape dispenser which is so much easier to apply to projects. Now you will be able to use this same sheet over and over again with a dry erase pen…don’t you just love that?!

Step 5:Add a piece of magnet to the top and bottom of the shopping list and two pieces to the board.

Step 8: Repeat the same process with the menu planner sheets and stamp image onto lower right corner off board with Staz~On ink. Set it aside to dry.

Step 9: Stamp the image on patterned paper and/or whatever color card stock you decide to use and paper piece the image on the board. Set it aside to work on the marker.

Step 10: Cover the marker with ribbon and hang it from the top of the board with some twill or ribbon. On the twill I stamped the recycle sign to continue the theme and hammered a small nail to hang it. Here you will also see that I used the same flower/brad combo to decorate the pen as well.

With that, you are done! Here’s a closer up of the image paper pieced.

I have two very fun and useful projects to share with you today and to kick off your week on a good note ~ a give away!!! Who doesn’t love those?! All the details for the give away are at the bottom so I hope you’ll play along!

To put my projects together I used the amazing and oh so fun kit from Mari Koegelenberg called Whats Cooking? The Collection. The first project I’m going to share with you today is a fabric transfer project using an iron-on transfer sheet.

Here’s what the project looks like finished:

Here’s what you’ll need:

• Whats Cooking? The Collection by Mari Koegelenberg
• A fabric bag
• Avery Fabric Transfers (there are several, so make sure you select the correct one, light or dark depending on the color of your fabric)
• An iron
• An embellishment ~ I used some Prima Flowers for mine

Step 1: Create the design you will be printing onto the iron-on transfer. I used the what’s cooking? frame twice, once as is and again to add an additional dotted frame around the original design. I managed to fit two on an 8-1/2″ x 11″ sheet, by positioning them like this:

Step 2: Print out your designs onto a Avery Fabric Transfer sheet and cut it out as close to the design as possible.

Step 3: Make sure the area where you will be adding your design has little to no wrinkles and add your iron-on sheet with design facing the bag. Follow the instructions to determine the amount of time you need to press the iron to the design.

Side note: I’m sad to share that this is the most I have used my iron in a year…don’t know what I would do without my dry cleaners!

Step 4: After letting the iron-on transfer cool, peel away backing, and finish embellishing as you’d like! Here’s a close up of the design on the bag.

The next project is a tag. As I mentioned above, I’m using the same digi kit ~ Whats Cooking? The Collection, but this time to alter a chipboard tag. Here’s what you’ll need:

• Whats Cooking? The Collection by Mari Koegelenberg
• Epson Premium Presentation Paper
• Chipboard Tag (I’m using a Maya Road tag)
• Mist Spray (I used Maya Road’s Avocado Metallic Mist)
• Glue
• Ball and Chain or Ribbon (something to hang tag with)
• Optional: halfback pearls or brads

Here’s what the project looks like finished.

Step 1: Spray your chipboard with some mist on both sides and set it aside to dry.

Here’s what it looks like after I sprayed it once and the finished tag you will see in later steps is after two coats; which by the way, doesn’t take very long:

Step 2: Create the design you’d like to add to your tag. From the kit I added the blank label, typed in what I wanted the tag to read and added a flower element. Below the frame I show you how I put the flower together.

I used the flower 7 image twice (the one the left I lightened by decreasing the opacity and fill) and the brad 1 image.

Step 3: Try to fit as many tags as possible onto your document so that you waste as little paper as possible. I was able to fit four by arranging them as such:

Step 4: Cut out your design and adhere it to the dry chipboard tag. Embellish further if you’d like; add ball and chair or ribbon; and you are done! Here’s what it looks like once again.

I plan to add theses to my scrapbooking bags so that I can easily identify them when I go to crops; to my carry on luggage; and to my camera bag.

Teachers receive all kinds of gifts, from gift cards to chocolates. All those items are great, but why not give them something they’re always in need of…Thank You cards and/or note cards!

Using Melissa Wilsons and MKC’s  Back to School – Backpack Album, I came up with this note card holder.

Here’s what you’ll need to make one of your own:

• Melissa Wilsons and MKC’s  Back to School – Backpack Album
• Card Stock ~ Red for the backpack and white for the note cards
• Pattern Paper
• Sewing Machine
• Rubber Stamps
• Ink
• Ribbon
• Brad
• Double Sided Tape
• Eyelets
• Crop-a-Dile

Step 1:Print out backpack on pattern paper as well as Journaling card to use for note cards. Once you print them out, cut them out and you should end up with something like this (this is the inside of the backpack.

Step 2: OPTIONAL ~ At this point if you’d like to add some sewing do so. I ran each piece through my sewing machine to give the edges a bit more interest. Here’s what the front looks like when done.

Step 3: Assemble the backpack  and set it aside to work on the closure. I wanted to used magnets as closure but being that they’re so ugly, I wanted to hide them. I used a ribbon flower and a flower I punched out of card stock to do just that. You can use any decorative item that might hide the magnets. Here’s what mine look like.

Step 4: Adhere them to the backpack as well as some eyelets in order to thread some ribbon~ this ribbon becomes the straps of the backpack as well as the handle on top. Here’s a view of the back of the backpack.

Step 5: Decorate the front as you’d like. I added a stamped image with some embellishments, the flower closure with magnets, and this is what the front looks like.

Step 6: To hide the ribbon ends on the inside, use card stock to cover up the middle of the backpack.

Step 7: Add a piece of double-sided tape to adhere the ribbon that will tie all the note cards together. Here’s what it looks like.

Step 8: After you adhered the ribbon, put it aside to work on the note cards. Print out some  journaling cards from the same kit to use as backgrounds for the  note cards. Here’s what the document looks like.

Step 9:Cut out the journaling cards, add some stamped images and/or sentiments and assemble your card. You can pretty much make them however you want, here’s what mine look like.

Step 10: Put note cards and envelopes and place them inside the back pack in the middle of the ribbon you prepared earlier. Tie them up and you’re done! Here’s what the inside looks like assembled.

Step 1: Open a new document in Photoshop. I like to start with 300 dpi and 8-1/2″ x 11″ since that is the size of the paper I will be printing my project on.

Step 2: Place the bookmark from the Read All Over Mini Kit by Elise’s Pieces Designs onto your document.

Step 3: Add newspaper print paper (paper7) to the bottom half of the bookmark.

Step 4: Place lace border just above the newspaper print section.

Step 5: Add Flower1 image to the middle of the bookmark towards the left.

Step 6: Select all your layers and make a copy so that you end up with two bookmarks.

Step 7: I flattened the layers and then with the clone tool I was able to erase the digital ribbons. I did this because I will be adding some physical ribbon instead.

Step 8:Print your document; cut out the bookmarks;  use the Corner Chomper on each corner; and punch a hole towards the top (in the middle) of your bookmark.

Step 9: Stamp the sentiment of your choice below the hole you just punched. Thread some gingham ribbon with some gems threaded through each tail and you are done! Your bookmark should like this.

A quick and easy bookmark that I’m sure my friends will keep for a long time to come! Hope you’ll give it a try and don’t forget to link back here so I can check out your version!

Step 1: Design the front of the purse ~ I used the elements from Sugarplum Paperie’s Strawberry Cafe [Revised] kit. Next add paper to the front, clasp, and handle ~ I used the paper from Sugarplum Paperie’s Strawberry Cafe [Revised] kit and print it out on a piece of sticky-canvas.

Step 2: Open a new document and using the same purse template, add a digi paper to use as a liner (the inside) of the purse. I used a paper from Sugarplum Paperie’s Strawberry Cafe [Revised] kit. These pieces are important to add because it not only makes the purse look more polished, but it also works as a support so the purse is able to hold it’s shape.

Step 3: On another piece of sticky-canvas, print out any additional items ~ I printed out some hearts. Here’s a photo of all the elements cut out.

Step 4: Add the liner pieces to all the canvas pieces. The easiest way I found to do this, is to peel the backing from the canvas a little at a time, taking time to align both pieces together.

Step 5: I added double-sided tape and assembled the box. I then added some rhinestones around the stem for some glitz.

Step 6: I also wanted to add some fun details to the handle and clasp, so I used my sewing machine to add some zig-zag lines around the edge of the handle and clasp.

Step 7: For some additional details, to the clasp I added some hearts with halfback pearls and to the handle some hearts with brads which I will use to attach it to the purse.

Step 8: I used the Crop-a-Dile to make punch holes on the purse, handle, and clasp. I attached the handle and clasp to the purse with some brads and then moved on to the closure.

Step 9: For the closure, I added some magnetic snaps to the purse and end of the clasp.

Step 10: I finished the purse by adding a flower button with a black brad to the front. Here’s a photo of the front of the purse.

It’s ready to be filled with some note cards or perhaps a treat! Here’s a photo of it with the note cards.

I was instantly inspired by Kelleigh’s new template called Heart Cup and when I saw the new kit by {simply.scraps} and Madame Wing called Fave Flave I just new they would be perfect to use with the adorable cup from Unity’s September Kit of the Month.

• Misc. Accessories to decorate box – I used ribbon and halfback pearls

Step 1: I printed one of the yummy papers from the Fave Flave kit. I layered the cup template over the same paper and printed again on the other side  - this gave me two sides of pattern paper and give is a cleaner look.

After cutting out and scoring the template, I added a row of glue just around the edge of the heart and added some rick-rack ribbon…looks like this.

Step 2: I then adhered double sided tape to the front of the box as seen below to put the template together.

Step 3: I set the box side and started working on some of the decorative elements and stamped images. The stamped images on the front of the box is the cup and the sentimets that hangs from the handle.

Here you’ll see three hearts and the sentiment I printed and cut out of the Fave Flave kit. I adhered this piece to the front of the box.

This next piece I adhered to the front of a bag I used to put a cookie in…isn’t sugar too perfect?!

This next one I used on a belly band I used to hold some instant coffee pouches. I punched two eyelets on either side of the heart and threaded some hemp and hung it around the pouches.

The last items I made for this gift box, is a coaster with Unity Stamps.

To seal it, I added two coats of stain so it can be used for cold and hot drinks.

I then adhered the ribbon to the box, added the cup and sentiment to the front of the box; placed all the items in it and now it ‘s ready to be gifted to a friend. Here’s a photo with all the items out of the box.

You have a little bit under a month to start making some sweet gifts and hope this has inspired you!

I thought it might be easier to break it down by project, so I’ll start off with the Note Cards and Envelopes gift item and work my through all of the items.

TIP: You can print out the template, I used Cookie Wraps by Kelleigh Ratzlaff Designs here, on regular printer paper, cut it out, and use temporary adhesive to adhere to whatever card stock or paper you’d like to use to cut out your template. Here’s a example of how I did it.

Once I cut it out, I added a strip I made from the Ecology Paper Pack by Viva Artistry down the middle of the template.

Flipped it over to add the a piece of double-sided tape to hold it shut and another to attach the note cards and envelopes, as such.

I then finished it off with the label which I created in word and then cut it out with Nestabilities. The last finishing touches were the brads on each side of the tag and rhinestones under the words.

Next project is the Ribbon Holder which I create using Fancy Bag TemplateSet by Kelleigh Ratzlaff Designs and here’s a close up of the final project.

I started off by printing the template as well as printing a sheet from the Ecology Paper Pack by Viva Artistry. Once I cut the template out I added a strip of the paper to the front of the bag as such.

I then assembled and pinched the top together. In order to make sure the top would stay pinched together, I added a piece of double-sided tape to each side as well as some velcro to the closure to make it easy to close and open, so it looked like this.

I finished it off by adding some rhinestones and the tag. I outlined the closure a bit more by adding some dashes with the white gel pen.

The final project is the Ribbon Holder which I used Candy Dispenser TemplateSet by Kelleigh Ratzlaff Designs, here’s a close up of it finished.

I printed the template on side, flipped the page over and printed the paper from Little Black Dress No. 2by Kellie Mize. I cut it out and adhered it together. I added the buttons, to the inside and tag to the outside.

I thought it would be fun to add some feet to this box and so I used Doll Heads, painted them black and adhered them to the box. In case you’re wondering – you can find them in the wood section of your craft store and they look like this.

Step 1: Print out the digital paper and images you’d like to use. To utilize as much of paper as possible, I placed several leaves and acorns.

Step 2:I added craft glue to the trivet and paper on top…here’s what mine looks like before I adhered the paper – by the way, I found the trivet below at Ikea, 3 for a $2.99!

Step 3: Turn your trivet over and with a utility knife cut excess paper off.

Step 4: Cut out the leaves and acorns and turn your trivet over so the digital paper side is facing up. Add photo, leaves and acorn.

Step 5: On a piece of canvas, stamp your sentiment, and cut it out with the die or punch. Next, you’ll want to use some ink to ink up the edges.

Step 6: Adhere the sentiment to the front of the trivet and finish it off with another acorn. You are done and ready to display it!

Digichick products used in today’s article:

Remembering the flimsy plastic Trick or Treat bags and plastic pumpkin pails that are typically the vessel of choice for Halloween bounty, I decided I could come up with something much better for my nephew’s Halloween treats. After finding just the perfect kit, I dug out this pail and set about to alter it to make the perfect treat holder for my nephew.

And this is what I did with it.

Here’s what you need to get started:

• Clear Pail
• Halloween Digital Paper Pack (I used Quirky Twerp’s Happy Haunting Scrap Pack)
• Double-sided tape or sticky strip
• Dimensionals
• Ribbon  (I used Spider Web ribbon from Stamp Simply Ribbon Store)

I started by printing all the images and paper I needed. To save paper I combined everything I needed onto one sheet. I’ve also number each piece so I can explain to you what I used on each one. Here’s a photo of what I printed.

Here’s the description of each item I used from Quirky Twerp’s Happy Haunting Scrap Pack.

1. I used Super Hero and Pinked Border images; and Green Stripe Paper
2. I used the Boo images; Green Stripe Paper
3. I used Border image; Orange Solid Paper

After I cut them all out I started assembling. The lid looks like this.

I used the Cuttlebug and Inverted Scalloped Circle Nestabilities dies to cut out the image and the black card stock backing. Next I worked on attaching the orange panel.

I added some double-stick tape to the back of the panel.

In an effort to minimize the tape showing through on the inside of the pail, I adhered it to the ribbon.

I left enough tails on either end so I could tie around the pail and cut off any excess.

It’s now ready to be filled up! Here’s a photo of the finished project once again.

I wanted to share my top three favorite things about paper piecing before I get started.

1. Great way to use scraps
2. Gives your image a unique look
3. You are able to add pattern and texture to your stamped image in a way that you would not have been able to do otherwise

First thing first, here’s a photo of the finished project

Supplies you’ll need:

• Outline Stamp (I used The Greeting Farm’s Rain, Snow, Shine Stamp Set)
• Digital Paper Pack (I used Karla Dudley Designs’ Artist In Me Paper Pack)
• Card Stock
• Scissors
• Adhesive – I suggest something with a micro tip for more control
• Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
• Markers (I used Copics)

Select and print out the digital patterned papers you are going to work with. Keep in mind that you will only be using a tiny bit so I suggest you utilize your canvas wisely and add as many patterns as possible. I went ahead and made a collage, it looks like this.

Stamp your image on your card stock and cut out it however you wish. Here I used Curved Rectangles Nestabilities dies to cut out and emboss my image.

Stamp the same image onto the patterned papers.

Cut the section of the image you want from each patterned paper.

Color the section of the image you will not be covering with patterned paper.

Adhere the patterned paper pieces over the main image.

Adhere the paper pieced image onto your card front and you’re done! Decorate as you wish. Here is my finished card again.
