Hi Crafty Friends, it’s Vicki here sharing a project different to my usual hybrid creations.
I took a little break from working with paper and have been working with wood, vinyl and HTV (heat transfer vinyl) at home lately. The project I’m sharing with you today is using image designs from ‘On a Whimsical Adventure‘
Items and products used:
Silhouette Cameo Software
Canon Pixma printer
Heat transfer paper for whites
Pillow cover and table runner from Ikea
The Digichick file – Vintage Tropical Transfers and Brushes
With Summer approaching I’ve been looking for a throw pillow for an outside chair – I was looking for a Vintage type image and fell in love with these gorgeous bird and flower files from ‘On a Whimsical Adventure’ and decided to try my first big printable transfer print. I chose the Gurli cover in white from Ikea.
I opened my Silhouette software and created a document with the pillow size and pulled the images onto the screen to work out the proportions, etc. My printable transfer paper is only letter size so I had to also work within those measurements.
After choosing my images I mirrored them and sent them to my printer direct from my Silhouette Software. Once printed I decided to hand cut them due to the shading of the designs but they can also be cut with the Silhouette Cameo using the ‘print and cut’ feature. As you can see some of the text is reversed but once it’s added to the cover it will read the correct way!
For my birthday last year my husband bought me a heat press (lucky me :-)), so I laid my cover down and gave it a quick press – it’s recommended to do this to let out any moisture before pressing anything onto it!
Once pressed I waited for the paper to cool down, always read the instructions received with your products, this one could also have been pulled off while warm but I had a little helper who wanted to join in the fun so I let him pull part of the paper off.
When I first printed the parrot image I thought my printer had smudged the middle of the image so I reprinted it and realised that it was part of the design when I zoomed in to double check – so I decided to add the image to a table runner that I had just purchased and it turned out fabulous – so I’m happy with my double print and have a matching item for my table 🙂
We’ve been having ‘unnecessary’ snow in April!!! So I was unable to take my photos outside so just imagine these items on outdoor furniture instead of my dining table and chair … lol
I’m very happy with how the pillow and the table runner turned out – I can’t wait to put them outside – maybe I’ll add some place mats too … endless possibilities!
These are only a few of the items from ‘On a Whimsical Adventure’ kit – please visit The Digichick to view further products and images as there is so many other options for other projects (see some examples below).
Thank you for visiting today! I hope to see you again soon! Wishing you a great Summer!
