Hello everyone….Can you believe that it’s almost Easter!! I know I’m having a hard time wrapping my brain around it. It’s all going too fast for me.
Today I will be showing you how to make this adorable card and some cute gift tags. This project has been so fun. I love the colors of the papers from Kimeric Kreations AND…. they are polka dotted. I LOVE polka dots. The stamps are from Valentina’s Creations. These digi stamps are adorable…lets just say I had to make myself put my computer away.
To make this cute Easter egg card and tags I will be using Valentina’s Creations~The First Air Of The Morning Stamps kit and Kimeric Creations’ Hummingbird Hollow papers (which are bonus papers to the kit Hummingbird Hollow~shown bellow.)
Okay, lets get started. For this project, I used my Silhouette Cameo and the print and cut feature, but you can easily do the same thing in your favorite photo editing program, print and cut the old fashioned way, some call it fussy cutting. I am still using the v2 version of the software. I know that some people are using this version and some are using the new….this can be accomplished in both versions.
Below is a list of supplies that you will need. This list (glues, tapes, dimensional dots, etc.) can be changed to your liking. I really like using double sided tape and I got it on clearance after Christmas to boot.
To do this project, I will be showing you how to do a “Fill PATTERN”.
STEP 1: Open the chick in the egg stamp from Valentina’s Creations: The First Air of the Morning Stamps.
Step 2: TRACING – Choose the TRACE AREA button at the top right of the page (it’s highlighted here). Now select the SELECT TRACE AREA and then drag the box over the entire image. Next you will uncheck the HIGH PASS FILTER and move your THRESHOLD bar until your image looks like mine. Now this is were it is a little different than I have shown you before, instead of tracing only the outline of the image, we are going to trace all of it, inside and out. For this project you will select the TRACE button. This will give you the entire outline of your stamp. You will see in the next picture what I mean.
Step 3: Now drag your original image over to the side and you will see red double lines.
Step 4: Release Compound Path – To do this make sure that your outlined image is selected go to the top left of the screen and select OBJECT and then go down and select RELEASE COMPOUND PATH. This action releases everything so that every little piece can now be moved around and manipulated.
Step 5: You can now move your pieces around so that you can FILL them with color or patterned papers. Before you do this make a copy of your image (make sure all pieces are selected) and move it off to the side.
NOTE: When I was working on one of the tags I figured out that you don’t have to move the pieces you can just click on each image and fill where they are. That’s what is neat about doing and learning, there are usually more than one way to do most things.
Step 6: SELECTING PAPERS – Select OPEN THE FILL PATTERN WINDOW at the top of your screen. This will open all the digital papers that you have in your library. I used Kimeric Kreations’ Hollow Hummingbird Bonus paper.
Step 7: It’s time to move all the pieces back into place. If you are going to layer for that 3D look you will want to make sure you make copies of the pieces you want to layer with.
Step 8: Group together your pieces once you have them in place.
Step 9: Arrange all pieces on the 8 x 11 mat. Make sure the cut settings are on.
Step 10: Before sending to the printer, make sure that your REGISTRATION MARKS are on.
Repeat all the above steps for the tags.
Step 11: Send to printer and then through your Silhouette machine.
You will also need to print and cut the card base out.
Step 12: Assemble
Add Double sided tape to the edge of the card where the fold lines are.
Using the double sided tape, add the other half on top to make your card base. I used the printed egg, but you can used the plain one because you will be layering on top of it. (Save the printed one and make another card with it.)
Now add the little Chick.
Almost done…..add the foam dots to the back of all the pieces you want to stand out.
To make your project complete add ribbon and or buttons.
I hope that you have enjoyed this project as much as I did. I love creating and sharing those creations with you. Using these digi stamps from Valentina’s Creations and the polka dotted papers from Kimeric Kreations made it fun and easy to work with.
There are other great tutorials just like this one, don’t be shy, go check them out. The Hybrid girls rock!
