Before I get started I want to tell everyone “Hello”. I am so excited to be apart of the Hybrid Creative Team at The Digichick. I have so many ideas swirling around in my head. I love creating and sharing those creations with you. So without further adieu, here is my very first project at The Digichick.
Heartstrings Valentine Treats
(Instructions following pictures)
The technique I used to make them is called a print and cut or PNC. It’s my favorite thing to do with my Silhouette. I suppose because I love making Hybrid crafts.
To start, I imported the white paper with red hearts into Silhouette Studio Designer Edition. I then opened shapes I wanted from my library, which were purchased from the Silhouette online store. After choosing the shapes I wanted, I then added the paper from the patterned paper library.
Next I selected the size paper I used to print on. Most printers are 8 1/2 X 11, which I used, but there are wide format printers that you can use as well.
Before cutting you will want to make sure that your cut lines are on. It’s always a good idea to check them before cutting to make sure everything is going to cut right. Ex: On the circle with the words “Happy Valentine’s Day” you will have to make sure the cut lines are off on the words and only on the circle shape.
You are ready to print. I used craft cardstock, this gave the red hearts a more burgundy color. After printing, apply the cardstock to the mat and load into the machine. Here you can see the registration marks the machine will read.
You can see here where it cut around the shapes.
Additional Supplies: Foam tape (for dimension), ribbon, cellophane bag, candy (of course) and adhesive of choice. I used glue and double sided tape.
I applied a small amount of Aleene’s tacky glue and pinched one side together. You just have to hold a minute for this glue to work.
Now flip it over and fill with candy. The size I choose holds about two Hershey Kisses. I figure that is plenty enough for the kids, especially since there will be plenty other treats.
To finish off add a little more glue (or tape), tie ribbon around it and your done. Here you can see how I layered the tag for the Treat Pouch. I use a piece of foam tape for dimension.
now simply add double sided tape to layer the two pieces for the treat toppers. You can use one layer and I would suggest this if you have several to do.
And there you have it!! Three treat ideas with one piece of cardstock. I hope that you like my ideas, the possibilities are endless. You’ll be seeing me around. If you have any questions please email me, I’ll be glad to help.
