Yepp, it’s a good old fashion game of Simon Says here on The Hybrid Chick. I challenged the Chicks to use an assigned template and do it up different ways. I wanted them to put on their thinking caps, get out those scissors, turn the template around and try to look for different ways to use it. To think outside of the bag, if you will.
The template that the I chose for the Chicks to use is this super cute Basic Bag template by Girl Boy Girl Designs.
Shirley created these fantastic tags from the template!
Here’s what Shirley had to say: I printed the template onto thick card and cut it into 4 pieces. I discarded the two smaller parts. I printed two different sheets of papers from Sherwood Studio Winter Caprice kit. I covered my tags with maroon paper and cut slightly smaller pieces in the pale grey paper to go top. I also cut two banner pieces to place across the tags. I inked the edges of the tag, the banner and the vintage photos. I used a Marianne die to cut 6 rose shapes using my Big Shot. I used two vintage photos, a metal snowflake, gold beads on wire, and gold and striped ribbons to decorate the tags.
Kim shows her jolly side with this fun use of the bag template:
Kim said: I stayed inside the box on this “quickie” project. It only took about 10 minutes to make. I just used the template and plain cardstock.
Jen was able to cross another name off her gift list with her bag:
Jen says: It’s perfect for holding a gift card and I’ll be giving this one to my dance teacher.
Kristina created these beautiful bags using the collab kit The Most Wonderful Time.
Look for Kristina’s tutorial on how she created her bags here on The Hybrid Chick on 12/19/12!!
Lynn ROCKED the home decor with her use of the bag template to create a faux vase and flowers using the Simply Thankful collab kit!
Cathy avoided being put on the “Naughty” list with her use of the template and Quirky Twerp’s Christmas Retrospect papers:
Cathy said: It’s hard to tell in the photos, but his beard/mustache/hat trim/buckle are all shiny/sparkly!!
Kim said: I really wanted to do 4 of them to spell out NOEL but I just didn’t have time. It spells it out around the bag though.
Joana went all girlie on us when she used Sweet Digi Scraps Note to Self kit to create this fun purse/gift bag.
Hopefully, this will get you looking at templates a little differently! Be sure to check out Girl Boy Girl Designs’ other templates in the shop!
Next month, we’re taking on one Kelleigh Ratzlaff’s templates!
