Holiday Place Cards and Napkin Rings
Hi, there – Rebecca (ReboScraps) here with a project that reflects one of my favorite things to do with my digi scrap stash. I LOVE dressing up every day items and using the cute elements and papers to make custom accent and decorations. Holidays are a great time to make some DIY decorations.
Today, I’ll show you a place card, napkin ring and Thanksgiving invite I designed for this year’s festivities, using Stuffed and Thankful by Michelle Batton.
First of course, you have to invite people to your big event. For that, I created a printable invite. Michelle included some custom shadows for her kit elements, so the turkey in this invite looks very realistic. The bottom area is where I would include the time and place for the holiday festivities. I like to make invites about 5″ x 7″, then print them at my local photo processor.
Everyone will need a guide to find their place at the table, so I used some of the same elements to create place cards. For place cards, I design them at 4 1/4″ wide by 5 1/2″ tall, then print them 4 per sheet (U.S. letter size paper.) The top half of that I leave open, usually just showing a paper, since once the card is folded, that doesn’t show. (Please forgive my printer lines that are showing – time for a new cartridge!)
I used other elements in the kit, like the pilgrim hat, to create each napkin ring. Napkin rings are very easy to design. Simply draw a box that is 2″ tall and 7-8″ wide. For this one, I placed the hat near the left end, and after printing I cut around one side of the shape before wrapping it around the napkin.
So with just three simple pieces, you have a coordinated holiday party, starting with the invitation to your guests and a custom table setting!
I hope you enjoy making fun projects for your holidays!
