Homecoming Float for Kelleigh Ratzlaff Designs
I’ll have to admit that I was more than a little nervous when I agreed to take on designing a float for our Homecoming Parade, but with Kelleigh’s templates, I knew that I’d be just fine in the end!
I used lots of Kelleigh’s templates in this float. Here’s a full list:
- Candy Dispenser
- Designer Label Shapes
- Fancy Bag
- Hexagon Box
- Milk Carton
- Paper Flower Pieces
- Perfectly Square
- Puff Box
- Sassy Purse #1
- Sassy Purse #3
- Summer Lovin’ Mini Polkas papers
- Summer Lovin’ Patterned Papers
- Summer Sunset paper pack
- Little Mister Solid Paper Pack
- Tab Envelope
- Top Heavy Box
I was first inspired by her Candy Dispenser template:
I had the idea to make a vending machine using some the Candy Dispenser template and some of her other templates. So my first step was to make some tiny versions of some of my favorite Kelleigh templates:
I used these templates:
- Candy Dispenser
- Fancy Bag
- Hexagon Box
- Little Mister Patterned Paper Pack
- Milk Carton
- Puff Box
- Sassy Purse #1
- Summer Lovin’ Mini Polkas papers
- Summer Lovin’ Patterned Papers
- Summer Sunset paper pack
- Little Mister Solid Paper Pack
The next step was to assemble the Candy Dispenser Template. I decided that I wanted mine to be bigger than the standard, so I enlarged the template and printed it out using these products from Kelleigh:
- Candy Dispenser
- Little Mister Patterned Paper Pack
- Summer Lovin’ Mini Polkas papers
- Summer Lovin’ Patterned Papers
- Summer Sunset paper pack
I used some clear plastic that I had to fashion the shelves and the front of the “vending machine”.
It didn’t look like a parade float all by itself, so I decided that I’d add a workspace and show a template in progress. This time I used:
- Designer Label Shapes
- Little Mister Patterned Paper Pack
- Perfectly Square
- Sassy Purse #3
- Summer Lovin’ Mini Polkas papers
- Summer Lovin’ Patterned Papers
- Summer Sunset paper pack
- Little Mister Solid Paper Pack
- Tab Envelope
Then, I decided that there was too much “polka”, so I covered the “floor” with blue and made a little rug out of the polka. Now I decided that it looked a bit like an exhibition space, so I added Kelleigh’s logo to the top of the vending machine and then a “rope” around the edge. To finish it off, I added some of Kelleigh’s paper flowers to be the wheels for my float. Here’s the finished float:
I hope that you enjoyed this closer look at this float. It was super fun to make, and now my kids are arguing over who gets to play with it first!
