Coasters Can Be Fun!

June 30, 2012 | Filed under: Articles and tagged with: Christmas Gifts, coasters, Do it Yourself, Etc by Danyale, gift, home decor, indoor decoration, kid-friendly, mod podge, outdoor decoration, terra cotta

Hi there!

Pattie here with a quick and easy project for some fun coasters to use outdoors or in your home.

Supplies You’ll Need:

  • Decorative papers printed on copy paper
  • Terra Cotta Coasters
  • Mod Podge
  • Foam Brush and/or Paint Brush
  • Circle Dies and/or scissors
  • Felt circles

I used the Love Lines Kit by Etc. by Danyale because it had neutral colors that I could use with my furniture inside my home as well as my outdoor patio furniture.

Start by cutting out your circles to fit with a little ‘wiggle’ room inside your coaster. Apply a very thin layer of Mod Podge and adhere paper to coaster.

Wait for it to dry and apply one or two thin coats of Mod Podge to the entire coaster.

Once they are dry, they are ready to use! These can be stacked up with a pretty ribbon tied around them and given as a housewarming gift, a hostess gift or for any occasion! You can match any decor…indoors or out!

What a great fun and perfectly simple idea to make! I would love it for myself or for a gift. Thank you for using the kit, Pattie! I have to share on FB/Pinterest and my website blog. ♥

Thanks for the sweet comment Danyale! Also, I forgot to mention in my post that my “terra cotta” coasters came in this brown color, but you can use the regulare terra cotta color or paint them to any color you like!

Unless you use Mod Podge for Outdoors, any condensation from a glass will make a mess of the coaster. The Mod Podge will slightly liquify and ruin your creation if left there too long. It’s better to use an acrylic spray to seal it with.
