4th of July Party In a Tab Top Can

June 15, 2012 | Filed under: Articles and tagged with: 4th of July, Bella Gypsy, birthday, Christmas Gifts, Do it Yourself, gift, kid-friendly, Party Favors, party in a can

Looking for a fun way to package small gifts? Look no further than something that you already have in your cupboards or pantry. In a few simple steps, you can package your gift within a tab top can for a fun surprise.

This 4th of July, all of my young guests will receive their own little party in a cute decorated can filled with some fun goodies to keep them entertained while waiting for the fireworks to start. You can decorate and fill these cans with anything- the possibilities are endless!

Supplies:

  • Tab top can
  • Hot glue gun
  • Star Spangled Banner kit by Bella Gypsy
  • Glossy Accents
  • Stickles
  • Ribbons
  • Scissors
  • Foam dots
  • Goodies
  • safety top can opener

First, create and print two copies of a label for your can. Different cans are different sizes but the can that I chose was 4 inches tall and 10 inches around. Add Glossy Accents and stickles to the fireworks and set aside to dry.

Next, take your tab top can, flip it over and empty it’s contents from the bottom using a safety top can opener. This type of can opener opens cans below the edge from a side angle and leaves no sharp edges. Remove the existing label and clean the can.

Third, cut out pieces from the second printed sheet and add to your label with foam dots for dimension. Adhere your can label to the can using the hot glue gun and add ribbons to the tab top and label.

Finally, fill your can with fun goodies and reseal the bottom of the can with the hot glue gun. I filled my can with some bubbles, poppers and balloons wrapped in tissue paper and curled ribbon

Note: Once opened to reveal goodies inside, the removed tab top lid will have sharp edges. Please provide adult supervision when removing lid and disposal of lids properly to avoid injury.
