Cute Tag Book

March 7, 2012 | Filed under: Articles, Hybrid Basics, Inspiration and tagged with: baby gift, Christmas Gifts, Do it Yourself, gift

Do you have a soft spot for totally cute mini books?

I love to create adorable pocket-sized books that are just great for gifts or stashing in my handbag.  What a great way to share those fabulous memories with your family and friends and make them a little envious to boot!

To keep me on my toes, I try to design new types of mini-books each time.  I hope you’ll love this design I created which is a combination of tag and matchbook.

The book is easy to create and a simple design.  I made small ‘pocket envelopes’ which can hold a tag or memorabilia.  I printed off the patterned paper from Dirty Footprints collection (Karen Lewis) which I then cut in half so I could create two pockets.

My pocket is 3 3/4″ wide and 5″ high but it can be adjusted to suit your tags or photos. Score at 3/4″ from the left side and the bottom to create flaps.  You may wish to round the corners for a really professional look! These can be stuck down with double-sided tape or glue.  Punch a half circle out of the top of the pocket.

Once you’ve made the pockets, create a simple cover.  I used a piece of cardstock slightly wider than my pockets.

The back cover should be longer than your tag.  Mine is 5 1/2″ and the front cover is slightly shorter than the back (5″) so that it will tuck into the return at the base of the cover (3/4″).  I used 1/4″ score lines at the base and top so that the cover sits nicely over the pockets.

The envelopes can be stuck together at the base using double-sided tape.

Create cute tags to go inside the pockets. Simple tags hold the photos and journalling.  My tags show a few of the things we did during our school half term (it was my DD birthday).

I hope that I’ve inspired yout to create pocket book of your own.  We’d love to see them in the Gallery.

Thanks for popping in.  Be sure to check out all the delightful new kits available.  I have my eye on Daily Details for my next project.
