Animal Handprint Art
While in search of some cute jungle theme artwork to hang on the walls, I decided to create my own decorative artwork while at the same time also creating a keepsake that would capture a growing handprint. This is a quick and easy project for any age to create a personalized piece of art with minimal clean up.
Supplies:
- Brady’s Room by Wishing Well Creations
- cardstock
- Photoshop or a copy machine
- photo frame
To start, trace hand onto cardstock and cut out cardstock. Using the cut out hand as a template, cut out the shape of the hand on the patterned paper for the body. Also, print and cut out animal head of your choice. I used papers and elements from Brady’s Room by Wishing Well Creations.
Using Photoshop or a copy machine, scan/copy and reduce the size of the cut out hand to use as a template for the grass and tail. Cut out the reduced shape of the hand on the patterned paper for the grass and tail. Depending on the size of your artwork, I cut out enough to line the bottom of my background paper and also cut out the tail in two colors to allow me to try them both. You could also use a punch or diecut in the shape of an open hand to speed the process along as an additional option.
Mount the solid background paper on kraft cardstock and then layer further with patterned paper. Adhere grass pieces, body and tail to the background paper. Adhere head to the body using foam dots. If desired, glue wiggly eyes on face.
You can customize your art to create any animal you would like. Hope that this inspires you to create your own animal handprint art. Happy crafting!
