Jazzing up an iPod
Hi, everyone!
This is Rebecca (ReboScraps) here for my first blog post as a Hybrid Chick – yay! I’m so excited to be here!
Today, I have a project to share with you that has been on my list for some time. I have my iPod classic in a plain clear plastic case and I keep looking at it thinking it must be easy to make it cute with some digi supplies and a little creativity. So, I thought I’d give it a try, take a few pics along the way and show you what I did.
First, I popped off the cover, and got out my ruler to take some measurements. (My apologies this pic is a little blurry!)
Next, I used the basic shape tools in Photoshop Elements to draw a large rectangle, a small rectangle for the screen, and a circle for the buttons. I duplicated the large rectangle to design the back of my image.
I selected the Journey of the Heart Collaboration for my design. I loved the clock in the kit and thought it would make a fun accent around the round dial on the iPod. Here’s my design, all ready to print.
So, now I have my printout, I’ve got my iPod taken apart and I just need to trim my pieces. I also used a corner rounder punch on the corners and, although I used regular scissors for the two openings in the front, some might find it easier to use an xacto knife.
This took a little fine-tuning to get the pieces to fit. In any project like this, sometimes you have to do a little extra trimming to get the hybrid paper pieces to fit just right. But isn’t it worth it?
Ta-daaaaa! iPod cuteness!
Happy crafting!
