Paper Holiday Tree
The countdown to the holiday season has begun, giving the perfect reason to start holiday crafting beginning with a holiday tree decoration made with just a few supplies and a few easy steps.
To make a paper holiday tree, you will need a few items from your scrapbook stash.
Supplies:
- Foam cone
- 2 sheets of 8.5×11 patterned paper printed double sided – I used papers from Wishing Well Creations’ Cornucopia kit
- A box of hat pins
- Circle and star punches
- Stickles/ glitter (optional)
- Diamond glaze (optional)
With each sheet of the 8.5×11 patterned paper, cut the paper into 3 3.5×8.5 inch rectangles. Then cut each large rectangle into smaller strips of 3.5x.5 inch rectangles. You should end up with 48 strips per page. Repeat for second sheet.
Take one strip of paper, fold in half, push hat pin through one end and insert into bottom of foam cone. Repeat for entire row and then continue working towards the top of the cone.
Once you have covered the entire cone, add glitter to the edges of each folded strip of paper, if you desire, and set aside to dry.
Punch out stars, circles or any shapes you would like to add to your tree. Add glitter and diamond glaze for dimension, if you prefer, and adhere throughout the tree.
Finally, cut out a large star, adhere to a hat pin and insert into the top of the tree. Embellish as you would like – I added some glitter and a ribbon for additional texture.
In just a few easy steps, you have a simple and fun holiday decoration for the season. I hope that you enjoyed this tutorial and don’t forget to leave your gallery link in the comments if you decide to give it a try!
Happy crafting!
