Baby Girl Centerpiece

April 29, 2011 | Filed under: Articles and tagged with: baby, baby shower, baby shower centerpiece, baby shower decoration, baby shower ideas, centerpiece, Do it Yourself, gift, home decor, Karen Lewis, Quirky Twerp

One of my favorite things to do when preparing for any party is setting the table. Today, I’m going to show you how to make a centerpiece for a baby shower that can easily be adapted for any party!

Here’s what you’ll need…

  • Sugar Blossom Scrapbook Kit by Quirky Twerp
  • Word Art Wonders Vol. 6 by Karen Lewis
  • die cut images and words
  • ribbon and embellishments
  • container and floral foam
  • lollipop sticks or skewers
  • scissors and adhesive

Print the papers from the scrapbook kit as well as the images you would like to use.

Cut out the images and use your dies to cut various shapes. I used butterflies,  balloons and ornaments that look like baby rattles as well as the images from the scrapbook kit including the hearts, dresses, rompers and label.  I cut out a few sentiments to use as well.

For the rosettes, cut your paper into 1 1/2 inch strips, score and fold in 1/4 inch increments. Press down on the center of the rosette and attach to small circles on each side with heavy duty adhesive dots.

Next, apply an adhesive dot to the back of each  cut out item and attach a lollipop stick or skewer, varying the lengths.  Decorate your cut outs with ribbon tails on the balloons and butterflies, bows, roses and pearls! I also inked my edges for a little more interest!

Cover a container with paper or use a basket or vase. I used a tall tin that had pirouette cookies in it. I covered it with paper, added ribbon to the top and made a bow. You can personalize it by adding the name and date to the label on the front!

Insert the sticks into the floral foam inside your container in varying heights to create an interesting and fun arrangement!

I made this one for a girl, but you can easily use the same idea for a boy baby shower too! In fact, you can use this basic idea for any party…maybe I’ll make one for my son’s graduation party in June! Stay tuned for that!
