Shaped Mother’s Day Card

In the UK Mother’s Day or Mothering Sunday is always three Sundays before Easter which means that this year it falls on April 3. I thought it would be fun to show you how to create this special card for your mum or mom.

You will need the following:
From the Digichick
Awakening Digikit- Sherwood Studio
Wordart Wonders Vol 2 – Karen Lewis
Paper Roses – The Cutting Files
Designer Label Shapes – Kelleigh Ratzlaff

Other Supplies
Mega Ovals Large and Labels Fourteen dies – Spellbinders
Poinsettia 2 and Circle Frame Set dies – Marianne Designs
Stardust Stickles and Pastel Raspberry Liquid Pears – Ranger
A sanding block or emery file and your favourite adhesives.

First, cut the Designer Label from white card and also from printed paper. My base card is approximately 20cm square and the printed paper piece is a little smaller. Decorate the edge of the printed piece with Perfect Pearls.

Next cut and assemble 5 roses in various sizes. My biggest was cut at approximately 4.5cm in diameter the smallest about 2cm. I cut them from paper printed on both sides and sanded the edges a little before assembly.

Now, cut and emboss the poinsettia twice from printed paper. Lightly sand to highlight the embossing and then trim to create 3 and 2 petal leaves.

The next step is to cut two flourishes and decorate them with Stickles.

Create the sentiment using the word art. I really like that this set has English and US spellings. I added the words “for my very” in Courier font, then printed and cut out using the Grand Oval die.

Lastly, cut and emboss a mat for the sentiment using the Labels 14 die. Lightly sand the edges, then decorate with Liquid Pearls.

When everything is dry assemble as per the photo to create this ultra feminine, pink, sparkly and pearly, extra special Mother’s Day Card.
