Are you Ready for Some Football?
Cathy here to share some ideas for using your hybrid paper crafting to spruce up your party. We are even going to mix some rosettes with football. Now in my house (all guys except for me!), it’s not easy to bring flowery things into the decor, but I’m going to show you how you can.
Everything that I am showing today was made using the Gridiron Grit kit by Quirky Twerp. The kit has really great grungy, gritty papers and elements that are perfect for football and sports related layouts, decorations and projects. I really like that the colors are non-team specific. In our house we have fans for 3 different teams! So I really can’t show favoritism! And yes, one of our beloved teams is still in the playoffs!! Can you guess which team that might be? I’ll give you 6 guesses, one for each of the previous Superbowl victories they have collected!
I brought rosettes into the mix by using the Rosettes Set 1 templates, and the Banners Set 2 templates by The Cutting Files to help me create a decorated banner. I cut all the components for the banner.
Next, I accordion pleated the strips. Adhere the ends together to create a ring. Flattened them and attached them to circles punched from paper using a hot glue gun.
I then layered them, the flower and scalloped circle shapes, and the letters that I cut out. I put small eyelets in the upper corners of the banner flags and threaded some twine through to finish the banner.
I also made some cup sleeves. You can see I left a place to write the person’s name. This will serve to identify who’s cup it is. The cup sleeves can also be a party favor for guests to take with them and reuse.
To create these, I made a template by opening up a cardboard cup sleeve from a coffee shop and traced it onto paper. Once I had my paper sleeve cut out, I cut a piece of felt slightly wider than it.
I adhered the paper to the felt and then stitched all the way around the edges as well. You can add ribbon or trims to the sleeve to dress it up even more. To help make the reusable cup sleeve more versatile and able to fit differing sized cups, I sewed 2 themed buttons to the one end.
On the opposite end, I used elastic beading cord to create loops to secure the sleeve to the buttons. The cord is clear, but if you look closely where my finger is placed you can see one of the loops.
The football centerpiece was also made with the Gridiron Grit papers. Now we just need some barbecued wings, chips, dip and we are ready for some football!
