Sweetest Day!
In the US on the 3rd Saturday in October we celebrate a little day called “Sweetest Day”. A bit of a lesser known holiday, it certainly doesn’t have the following that Valentine’s Day does, Sweetest Day is set aside for letting our loved ones know how we feel about them.
Typically people exchange cards, small gifts, candy or flowers. The day is believed to have started out as a way to spread love to the sick, orphaned and less fortunate. Today we celebrate friendships, loved ones and relatives. Some think it was concocted by the candy industry as a way to increase sales. Even if it was, isn’t it wonderful to let others know that you are thinking about them? Today I’m going to share some cards that fit the bill for this day.
The Punkin kit by Wendy has the cutest bird in it. It gave me the idea to make a little play on the holiday name and use the sentiment “Tweetest Day.”
I even carried the bird over to the inside of the card:
This card got it’s seasonal look from Jennifer Fox’s Splendiferious kit. I just love the word art “snuggle weather”!! So perfect for this time of year.
Both cards were made using the Everyday Love Cards Templates by Kelleigh Ratzlaff. Those overlapping hearts say it all.
Here is wishing you and the ones you care about a very happy Sweetest Day!
