a shaped card + a basket

April 14, 2010 | Filed under: Articles and tagged with: basket, Boutique Cute Dolls, cards, Do it Yourself, home decor, Kelleigh Ratzlaff, Nestabilities, Spellbinders, templates

Hi all!

I am here to share a little card and a basket made using the March Guest Designer Boutique Cute Dolls’ Spring Flowers kit and Kelleigh Ratzlaff Designs’ Easter Basket Template Set with you.

These two projects are not necessary related, but they will easily work perfectly together for a kid’s party using these two super cute and fun digital kits.

Let’s get started on the projects!

First is the basket:

I wasn’t planning on making this basket in the beginning, but I ordered some very cute A Muse stamps recently and needed storage for them. Then Kelleigh’s versatile template came to my mind. I had to shrink the large template a little bit since I don’t have a wide format printer, but the size is perfect for those little stamps! Since this is really for my own use, I kept it really simple. I only added the scallop border using one of the very pretty papers that came in BCD’s Spring Flowers kit. The scallop die is from Papertrey Ink.

Here is the little shaped card that I made. I used Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels One die to make my card base. This is one of my favorite shapes for card bases. I cut out the birdhouses, mushrooms and the bee then arranged them on my card. The sentiment is from Hero Arts. I added faux stitching using a white gel pen to finish it off.

This is a super fun and easy card to make and is perfect for a kid! Hope you will have a chance to try a hybrid project using some fun dies, too! =)
