Hybrid Magnet Set

September 18, 2009 | Filed under: Articles and tagged with: gift, magnets, mod podge

Hi ladies! I am really excited to be here and be sharing with you my first hybrid project for the Hybrid Chick blog!  I’m going to show you how easy it is to customize your own colorful magnets with your favorite digital scrapbooking supplies!

I chose a super easy but really cute project for two reasons. One, because I really like showing people that hybrid does NOT have to be intimidating. Two, I love showing people ways to re-purpose household items to show that hybrid does not have to cost a lot, either!

I used these items:

I used Mod Podge for my adhesive, some scissors, a paintbrush, some magnets and some printed LOs. The magnets I used were new, but I got them for 47 cents on clearance at a local craft store! You can also use plain magnet sheets you purchase or even magnets you get for free…like when the pizza delivery guy hands you one with your order, or the ones at the doctor’s office! They are great finds!

I used a really cute, fun, and colorful kit by Pri Rocha at TDC shop located HERE if you want to take a gander! I made LOs according to the size of my magnets, and I did actually make them that small because I did not want anything to not look right if I had to re-size them before printing. You; however, can do it either way!

My LOs were 1 x 1 inch for the small ones and 3 1/4 x 3 1/4 for the larger one. I printed them using the best quality of my printer on matte presentation paper. After they were completely dry I cut them out and also removed the images from the magnets simply by peeling them off. I like a bit of that backing on the magnet as it lets my glue stick even better to my images!

Then I just glued my images to the magnets just making sure to also press together along the edges so there is no gaps. After they dried completely I brushed over the tops with Mod Podge to seal them and… thats it! How simple is that. Even if you have never tried hybrid this is such a great and easy place to start and it makes a really cute holiday gift! You could easily decorate a mint tin to store them in for a gift as well!

I hope you liked it and possibly found a bit of inspiration as well. Maybe as you walk around your house, you will start thinking, “Hmmm… I wonder what I could do with that?”
