Gift Notes Box

August 12, 2009 | Filed under: Articles and tagged with: Christmas Gifts, gift boxes, Kelleigh Ratzlaff

As soon as I saw Kelleigh’s 4×6 Prints Box template an idea popped into my head right away and so once I printed it, it sort of took off from there. Every year I make my sister a stack of Thank You cards so she can have on hand – she’s a teacher so she’s always needing those. As soon as I saw Kelleigh’s template I knew what I wanted to use it for.

I wanted to show you how quickly this box comes together as well as how fun it is to embellish with just a few embellishments such as ribbon and chipboard.

I started off by printing it onto the wrong side of an 8-1/2″ x 11″ piece of Paper Temptress’s Black Pearl Glossy card stock. After I cut it out and scored it, it looks like this.

I then added sticky strip to the tabs as shown below.

I put the box together and set it aside to work on the note cards. I made a bunch of little note cards using Taylored Expressions Berries & Cherries set. Here’s what those looked like before I fit them and some envelopes inside the box.

I loved how this box fits 1/2 a dozen note cards perfectly and I’m sure more if I didn’t use a lot of embellishments.

Even though the template comes with a band, in this case I wanted to add ribbon and so I went with that. Here’s a photo of the box along with the card I made to go with the note card gift set.

What’s so great about this template is that you really don’t need much to make this box look expensive. The paper has a bit of luster to it and with some ribbon, it really finishes it off.

That is just gorgeous and classy! Handmade cards always need a little something to make them into a real gift, I think. I used to use those SU! clear baggies, but this is more like what I would have wanted to do… just gorgeous!!! :D
