Grandma’s Little Treasure Box

I made the cutest little treasure box for my Mom. It has pictures of all her “Treasures” in it. Her children and grandchildren!

It was really fun to make and not hard at all! Let me show you how you can make a little box with “Your Little Treasures.”

It just takes a few items and a little imagination!

What you will need…

  • A small matchbox
  • Adhesive
  • Craft Paint and brush
  • Card stock
  • Chipboard
  • Scissors
  • Ruler and Bone Folder
  • Brad
  • Distress ink
  • Photo Editing Program
  • Digi kit! I used Our Story by Kelly Mickus at The Digichick
  • Your Favorite Pictures
  • Matte Photo paper and printer

The first thing you need to do is paint your match box, inside and out. It takes a few coats but dries fast. I did mine in brown.

While your box is drying you can get started on the other parts. First you need to make your accordion for your pictures. So, cut a piece of cardstock at about 2″x12″ (It might not be exactly at 2″ but trim it to fit in your matchbox) Score and fold at about 1 1/2″ increments. (Again adjust to fit your matchbox.)

Now that you have you accordion all ready its time to create your mini scrapbook pages in your photo editing program. My album has 9 pages. You also will need to measure around your match box and create a piece to wrap around it and create piece to cover the chipboard on the top. Here are all my pieces printed and cut out.

Now come the really fun part! Putting it all together. Before I put any of my pieces together I sanded and inked all the edges.

Then I glued my pages to my accordion and glued the accordion into the bottom of my box.

Then I created the top of my box, I used the chip board which is sized just a little bit bigger than my match box top. I glued my printed out paper to the top and then my cute little top piece. Like this:

Now you just have to put your little Brad on the front for a little “handle.”

Now you have the cutest little box full of your Treasures!
