Box of Surprises

I could not resist jumping in here with a Box Challenge being issued.  I needed to give some little ‘treasures’ to my Mom and this inspired me to create a wonderful little box to present them in.

Supplies:

With Kelleigh’s Card Box Template, creating this box was a snap.  I decided to also use Nicole’s FREE Paper Daisies Pack for all of the backgrounds.  I started by ‘clipping’ some of the paper to the Large Box template and printing it out on Epson Premium Presentation Paper – Matte.  (If you have any questions at all as to how to do this, Kelleigh has a wonderful step-by-step guide HERE.)

Creating a Card Box

Creating a Card Box

I printed a few flowers from Courtney’s Sugar and Spice Elements Kit and cut them out instead of having them print on the original box.  This allowed me to place my flowers exactly where the ‘window’ would be placed.  A few coordinating brads were added for visual depth.  I then created the window frame from Nicole’s pink paper and some transparency sheets cut slightly smaller than the frame.  The ‘window’ was then attached with some foam tape.  Butterflies were cut from paper as well as vellum and layered together for the finishing touch to the outside of the box.

The surprise inside? My mom doesn’t scrap, but still loves ‘paper’ photos.  (No photo CDs for her!)  I decided to spice up the photos from our vacation with the elements pack and paper pack that I used above and some simple journaling.

Now how about those pics!  I bet the rest of her friends don’t carry around pictures like this.

Try your hand at a box and see what you are inspired to create!  Don’t forget to link it to the Box It Up Challenge for a chance to win some more inspirational tools.

This is AWESOME!!! I just bought Kelleigh’s template grab bag and I’m going to work on a project like this one today!!! One question for you – do you have any problems scoring the presentation paper? I always use cardstock for printables and I’m not really happy with the jaggies that creates on the edges, but I’m afraid presentation paper is too thin!! ????

I normally use SU! white cardstock and decided to give this paper a go as it received rave reviews. It is about as thick as the white cardstock and worked REALLY well. I simply scored it with a ruler, bone folder and self healing pad and had no problem at all.

If I want just a little thicker I use the ULTRA Premium Presentation Paper … just enough stronger without the drawbacks of cardstock!!
