Spring Gable Box

If you could use a great place setting item for your Easter dinner or any other occasion, this gable box is absolutely perfect! It is large enough to hold gift cards, jewelry, even some chocolate or other snacks. Fill it with jelly beans and grass for a little Easter spin on it.

Now I’m not here today to re-invent the wheel, Kelleigh already wrote this fabulous tutorial on how to print your boxes from her templates so if you haven’t done it before you can start there. These project instructions begin when you have already completed printing your box and cutting it out.

Supplies Used:

  • Gable Box Template by Kelleigh Ratzlaff Designs
  • Happy Land Kit by Mira Designs
  • Teal Rhinestones by KaiserCraft
  • Wheel Guide, It’s Beautiful Wheel, Chocolate Chip ink and Ribbon, Cute and Curly Stamp Set, Cherry Blossom Sizzix embosslet, Button, Curly Label Punch and Horizontal Slot Punch all from Stampin’ Up!

Note: I printed my gable box template out on regular white cardstock so I could stamp on it without having to worry about it smearing, etc.

Step 1 - Roll your stamped image with a wheel.

Step 1 - Roll your stamped image with a wheel.

For the first step we’re going to wheel our design onto the box BEFORE we score our lines. This way the stamp design will be even all the way around the box without having to roll our wheel over “speed bumps”. :) Just put your wheel guide down on the bottom of your box and roll your inked wheel along the guide.

Step 2 - Score your lines.

Step 2 - Score your lines.

Now take your bone folder or scoring tool and score your lines for your box just like on the template you used to print it.

Step 3 - Punch or cut the slits out in the tabs

Step 3 - Punch or cut the slits out in the tabs

Using a punch like I did or just your scissors punch or cut the slits out of the two tabs just like in the template. Fold your box.

Step 4 - Add double stick tape or adhesive to your tabs.

Step 4 - Add double stick tape or adhesive to your tabs.

Before you completely assemble your box add some adhesive to the outside of your side tab, and on the backs of the bottom tabs to hold your box in place. Fold it all together and adhere it all. I then used my slit punch to punch a slit in the top where the two top sides meet so I could tie my ribbon through it.

Using more double sided tape tape around the bottom of your wheeled stamped image and adhere your ribbon on top of the adhesive. Trim to fit – this goes all the way around the box.

Emboss and cut your flower with your Sizzix, add a rhinestone in the center of your button then add your button to the center of your embossed flower. Add this to your box overlapping the rolled image and the ribbon.

Stamp your “Thank You” stamp and punch it out with the coordinating punch. Adhere this to the top left side of your box.
Cut out a butterfly shape and add some rhinestones, then add foam adhesive squares to the back to “pop” it up and adhere it over your “Thank You” stamped and punched image.

Tie the top together with ribbon once you have filled your box.
